It is known that Mani Ratnam's dream project 'Ponnian Selvan' is being screened. It will star Chiyan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, and Prakash Raj while Aishwarya Rai will be seen in a double role. Mani Ratnam is directing the film based on the novel Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki Krishnamurthy. 

Recently, a concept poster for the film has been released. Mani Ratnam shared this poster as a wonderful cell in life. The film is being co-produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies Banners. Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kumar, Kishore and many other famous actresses are going to be seen in prominent roles in this movie. AR Rahman is going to compose the music for the film. The film crew planned a Ponniyin Selvan shooting schedule in the state of Madhya Pradesh. But due to the second wave of Corona, the shooting of the movie stopped. Shooting for the film has recently resumed. Cinema lovers across the country are waiting for this movie. The film will be released in several parts. The film is set against the backdrop of the Chola Empire. 

Mani Ratnam's dream movie Ponniyin Selvan will be released in two parts. The first part of the film will be released in 2022. Meanwhile, the second phase of the film, which was halted due to Covid, has resumed shooting in Puducherry.
